About David Galipeau
Galipeau has been involved with the Internet for a long time. Having worked on DARPA and the EU Commission Framework IV projects, He has developed an interested in how technology affects society, specifically around learning behaviors, economic models, class systems and integration models.
He is intrigued by cognitive psychology, in particular a branch called social informatics that studies how information and communication technology (ICTs) can be used to modify social and organizational behavior.
Born in Canada, David completed undergraduate studies in Economics and Finance, graduate work in Business Admin and post graduate research in Human-Computer interaction (HCI) and Social Informatics.
Exploring the new trend of media convergence, David joined the dot com frenzy of the late 90's and founded an Internet media company in Munich, Germany. He also partnered to form a magazine publishing and TV production company focusing on cross-channel strategies and integrating traditional with new media channels. Both companies were successfully sold and now, after more than 20 years in the private sector, David is now working with the UN and involved in the WSIS process.
